BURMEN (Burdur Mensucat) is located in the town of Isparta, Turkey, alongside the yarn spinning and finishing mills of its sister company ISMEN (Isparta Mensucat). BURMEN has been in operation since 1989. The mill has a capacity of 10,500,000.00 meters of greige fabric per year. The town of Isparta lies 150 km north of Antalya, the worldwide famous Turkish resort, amidst the impressive Taurous mountain region on plateau 1035 m above sea level. The area has been inhabited since the 7th millennium B.C., and all major civilizations of the Mediterranean region have left their traces there. Isparta is famous for valuable handmade carpets, and is one of the most important centers in the country. Other crafts, rose cultivation and timber trade also contribute substantially to the town's economic development. |
